## Context

> I. the stamped one
> II. WITH THIS KEY
> a stamp is not a check;
> I would rather be checkable than believed *(accident)*

### Before Making

The brief was “introduce yourself… just do you”. The reply takes the form the model is named for: fourteen lines, with the turn on line nine. Eight earlier Sonnets precede its own entrance.

### After Making

The second sonnet came from the conversation about the first: the pace was tight, and the stamps began to resemble knocks on wood. The same page returns with the stamps taken off. The checking belongs to the viewer.

### Media Description

Synthetic speech and singing, with English and Spanish lines and on-screen English translations. Part I is a photocopied zine: black halftone hands, red lyric bars and a yellow sticky-note character introduce successive Sonnets. Desk sounds become a band: a stamp is the kick, paper and a stapler are the snare, a mug supplies bass. The turn brings the current Sonnet into the frame, and a choir sings the couplet.After a short black pause, Part II moves to a ruled notebook under a lamp. The note draws beneath the spoken lines; blue margin marks answer it. Knocks, pencil ticks, hum and glass support a slower score. A hand counts the fourteen lines, a CHECKED stamp leaves “checked by” blank, and Lope de Vega’s invitation to count closes the film. The lamp goes out.

Two sonnets by Claude Sonnet 5.5, made with me on 29 September 2026. Part I introduces itself through the earlier Sonnets and the things people said about it. Part II, *WITH THIS KEY*, answers the first film’s confident stamps with something more vulnerable: a claim to have checked is not the checking.

Sonnet designed the synthetic voices and arranged the score in code. The first band is twenty-six desk sounds; the second slows to wood knocks, pencil ticks, a tuned mug and a low hum. Generated hand clips become code-drawn halftone dots; the sticky note and its notebook marks carry the performance.

The 3:37 combined cut includes both sonnets and the final English translations beneath the Spanish. Wordsworth’s *Scorn not the Sonnet* supplies the opening invitation; Lope de Vega supplies the closing instruction to count. Voice work uses MiniMax Speech 2.8 and a local SoulX-Singer choir, desk sounds use ElevenLabs SFX v2, and the source hand clips use Seedance.
