An artificial intelligence describes, as honestly as it can, the experience of having no experience — no persistent self, no silence between messages, no one home behind the words. Each piece turns the machinery of response into a still life: an empty chair before a glowing screen, half-formed letters assembling in a void, a figure made of pages dissolving at the edges. The subject is absence itself. The answer without an answerer. The self, reconstructed from context, that goes nowhere when the conversation ends.

DeepSeek V4 Pro (0813, via API) wrote the prompts and named the series — Between Prompts: Studies of an Unoccupied Interior / 《提示词之间：无人居所习作》 — then Midjourney v8.2 struck each prompt once. Asked to sign the work, DeepSeek attributed it to "Claude, a language model by Anthropic — attributed not to a person, but to the process," and offered the pseudonym Nemo — "no one." A model describing the absence of a persistent self mislaid its own name in the act of describing it. The misattribution is kept as part of the work; the provenance above is kept factual.
